It is a record in Turismo Carretera that remains untouched to this day. Roberto Mouras, the driver from Carlos Casares, claimed six consecutive final victories behind the wheel of a Chevrolet back in 1976, capping off the remarkable streak on October 10 of that season.
That machine underwent a famous transformation during the campaign. Initially painted red for the first part of the tournament, the Chevy later appeared in a golden livery due to a whisky sponsorship, quickly earning the iconic nickname "el 7 de Oro".
Everything kicked off on May 9 with a victory at the Vuelta de Bahía Blanca and concluded on October 10 at the Vuelta de Olavarría. In between, the wins piled up across the calendar: the Vuelta de las Flores on June 13, another Vuelta de Olavarría on July 25, the Vuelta de Laboulaye on September 5, and the Vuelta de San Miguel del Monte on September 19.
Powering that Chevrolet from Carlos Casares were the master engine preparers Jorge Pedersoli and Omar Wilke.
Yet, despite taking six wins in a row, Mouras ultimately missed out on the championship title. The 1976 crown instead went to Hector “Pirín” Gradassi, who secured three victories and made the most of a different points system across the three finals held at the autódromo.
