Here's the thing: Germán Todino expected a whole lot more out of his 2026 Turismo Carretera campaign. Sure, there was a mid-season team change to navigate, but the driver from Ribera simply refused to drop his hands, setting his sights squarely on an all-out charge across the final three rounds at Rosario, Río Cuarto, and La Plata.
Looking ahead to this sprint to the finish, the competitor known as the Gaucho is keeping his chin up. "In the last three we want to be protagonists and I believe I have the tool to be able to do it," he stated. "Unfortunately due to different circumstances it didn't happen for us, but we go with optimism to make the championship close."
Beyond that, the feelings were good. In qualifying I couldn't drive it, it slipped a lot and we found that the limited-slip differential was broken and we lost a lot there.
There is still everything to play for in the standings. In just two races, we will finally know who punches their ticket through the "three of the last minute" system. Right now, that coveted spot is being held by Julián Santero, Josito Di Palma, and Marco Dianda, though Todino's mathematical chances of breaking in remain entirely intact.
Reflecting back on the previous round at the San Nicolás autodrome—where the Ford pilot crossed the line in 21st place—the weekend was a proper battle from the very start. "We started practice very well, but at the end of it I couldn't close a good lap," Todino explained. "Beyond that, the feelings were good. In qualifying I couldn't drive it, it slipped a lot and we found that the limited-slip differential was broken and we lost a lot there."
Despite those gremlins, the race day saw some gritty recovery work. Moving up several positions in his heat and fighting tooth and nail throughout the main event, the driver managed to survive a brutal field. "In the serie we advanced several positions and in the final we defended ourselves as best we could in a very competitive TC," he noted, highlighting the silver lining that they brought the machine home and collected valuable points.
