Turismo Carretera delivered heat-race drama at San Nicolás for the Gran Premio Corven, as Julián Santero, Ignacio Faín, and Matías Rossi stamped their authority by winning the morning's three battles. When the stopwatch settled the starting order for the main event, Santero's charge in the third heat proved the class of the field.
The first battery saw poleman Ignacio Faín expertly slam the door on Diego Azar's outside lunge at the start. Once settled, the race turned into a straightforward affair as the leaders stretched their legs, allowing Faín to cruise to a comfortable victory in a total time of 7:20.160 over 5 laps. Behind them, Mariano Werner kept the pressure on Azar from third without ever truly threatening for the position, while José Manuel Urcera and Ricardo Risatti rounded out the top five.
Things got properly heated in the second battery. Otto Fritzler and Matías Rossi went wheel-to-wheel off the line, with Rossi muscling his way into the lead. Marco Dianda slipped backward from fourth after being overtaken by his teammate Jonatan Castellano. The leading duo checked out from the pack with blinding pace, leaving the driver from Del Viso to take the win in 7:21.018 ahead of Fritzler, Christian Ledesma, Castellano, and Dianda.
The final heat brought the best action of all. Neither Julián Santero nor Facundo Chapur was willing to yield an inch on the opening lap. Santero used the inside line to wrestle the lead away from the Cordobese driver, who nearly threw away second when Agustín Canapino came charging hard behind him. Once out front, Santero's machine reeled off lap records to secure the win in the fastest time of the morning at 7:19.862, leaving Chapur second, Canapino third, Luis José Di Palma fourth, and Juan Bautista de Benedictis fifth.
With the heats in the books, Santero secures the pole position for the front row alongside initial heat winner Faín, while Rossi slots into third. The final for the twelfth round and second stage of the Copa de Oro RUS kicks off at 14:00 hours, broadcast live via El Nueve and Motor Play.
