Here's the thing about the Turismo Carretera championship fight: every point is a battle, and Valentín Aguirre knows it. Right now, the driver from Arrecifes is firmly focused on securing his place in the title definition before the final showdown in La Plata, knowing he has to lock down his pass across the three chapters remaining on the calendar.
History is on his side at one specific venue, at least. Valentín already knows what it takes to conquer the San Nicolás circuit, having previously triumphed there behind the wheel of a Dodge on September 13 in the 2020 season. Now, piloting a Chevrolet Camaro under a completely different Turismo Carretera landscape, Aguirre wants to repeat that glory and keep piling on the points. "The weekend we have to function very well because there is less and less left for the end and we have to keep catching points. I see myself entering the Gold Cup by the system of three of the last minute and it is the main objective to fulfill," he stated.

Looking at the standings for those last-minute contenders, Valentín Aguirre currently sits in the eighth position with 25 points. Crucially, if he solidifies his entry, he already has the mandatory victory tucked away that the category's regulations require for anyone hoping to be crowned champion.
The current standings for the last-minute battle show Mariano Werner leading with 53 points, followed by Otto Fritzler with 42.5, and Julián Santero with 42. Facundo Chapur holds 41, Agustín Canapino sits at 35, and Marco Dianda has 29.5. Jonatan Castellano stands with 28, just ahead of Valentín Aguirre's 25. Further down the order, Hernán Palazzo has 24.5, Marco Landa sits on 21, Christian Ledesma on 16, and Ignacio Fain on 12. Mauricio Lambiris accounts for 6, José Manuel Urcera has 5, Juan Pablo Gianini 3, and Matías Rossi closes the list with 2.
Reflecting on the previous round held at the Autódromo Rosendo Hernández in San Luis, the Canning Motorsports representative offered a clear assessment of how the weekend unfolded. "We didn't do well when it came to qualifying, but luckily in the final we were able to recover and take a good amount of points," he said.
