Here's the thing: racing close to home always changes the mood, and Juan Tomás Catalán Magni is feeling that local energy right now. With the track sitting less than 100 km from his hometown, the driver from Arrecifes is eagerly anticipating the upcoming round at San Nicolás.
That circuit serves as the venue for the second round of the Copa de Oro, and the machine has received plenty of attention ahead of the trip. "It's a track that brings out a lot of fans, and in my case I look forward to it with a lot of desire because it's close to Arrecifes and a lot of people are going to go," Juan explained. "Sportingly we have functioned well, I like driving that layout, and as for the car, a lot of work was done for this commitment."
Yet the challenge has always been converting pace into a proper finish over the entire weekend. Having shown strong partials at Paraná and San Luis, the goal now is absolute execution. "Both in Paraná and in San Luis the car showed good operation, with good partials, but we need to finish stamping it," he noted. "In San Nicolás we have to squeeze it as much as we can to position ourselves better in the championship."
Right now, Juan Tomás Catalán Magni sits in the 20th position in the championship standings. Despite that, mathematical chances remain alive to break into the Copa de Oro through the "lucky entry trio" system. It is a tall order, but a sharp Saturday and Sunday could change the math completely.
