Turismo Carretera is back on track next weekend for the second round of the Copa de Oro Río Uruguay Seguros. Following the opening battle in San Luis, Mariano Werner arrives at the top of the championship standings as the leader after crossing the finish line first.
Chasing the leader is Otto Fritzler in his Mercedes Benz machine. The driver from San Miguel sits 10,5 points behind Werner and already has a victory under his belt. Right behind them, Facundo Chapur holds third place in the tournament. Piloting a Torino prepared by Esteban Trotta's squad, he has accumulated 41 points and stands as another front-runner who has already secured a win.
Not everyone had a smooth opening round. Mauricio Lambiris, José Manuel Urcera, Juan Pablo Gianini, and Matías Rossi picked up very few points in San Luis, leaving them at the bottom of the table.
Looking at the current standard standings, Mariano Werner leads with 53 points, followed by Otto Fritzler with 42,5, Facundo Chapur with 41, Agustín Canapino with 35, and Jonatan Castellano with 28. Hernán Palazzo holds 24,5 points, Marcos Landa has 21, Christian Ledesma sits on 16, and Ignacio Fain counts 12. Rounding out this table are Mauricio Lambiris with 6, José Manuel Urcera with 5, Juan Pablo Gianini with 3, and Matías Rossi with 2.
Things get spicy when factoring in the last-minute qualifiers provisionally forcing their way into the fight. Julián Santero, Marco Dianda, and Valentín Aguirre are currently squeezing into the definition based on their points haul in San Luis.
With those virtual additions integrated into the standings, Mariano Werner keeps his 53-point lead, Otto Fritzler holds second with 42,5, and Julián Santero slots into third with 42 points as a last-minute runner. Facundo Chapur drops to fourth with 41, Agustín Canapino is fifth with 35, and Marco Dianda appears sixth with 29,5 points as another last-minute entry. Jonatan Castellano is seventh with 28, Valentín Aguirre eighth with 25 points via the last-minute provision, and Hernán Palazzo ninth with 24,5. The bottom half of the expanded virtual table features Marcos Landa with 21, Christian Ledesma with 16, Ignacio Fain with 12, Mauricio Lambiris with 6, José Manuel Urcera with 5, Juan Pablo Gianini with 3, and Matías Rossi with 2.
