Here's the thing about how these machines really work: they need more than just a heavy right foot. ACTC Educación brought its mechanical training program to the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional (UTN) in San Nicolás de los Arroyos for the third time, pulling in over 150 students into the Salón Azul at Colón 332.
The technical side of the classroom got down to business with technician Pedro Viglietti handling the opening block on chassis work. The curriculum covered structural construction and development, evolution phases, and rigorous rigidity tests alongside proper track engineering.
Turismo Carretera driver Juan Pablo Gianini then stepped up to walk everyone through the vital safety gear. He displayed his official regulation suit, broke down the exact science of fire-resistant clothing, and demonstrated proper HANS device positioning to prevent accidents on the track.
Next up, Julián Vanderstraeten of Freno FT took over to dissect the intricate anatomy of racing brakes used across Turismo Carretera and various ACTC categories. Students got a close look at calipers, brake clamps, discs, master cylinders, pedal box setups, and the harsh realities of wear and maintenance in pure competition.
After a brief recess, the crowd moved out to the UTN courtyard for a proper visual lesson. Engineer Sergio Pendás took command beside the Ford Mustang of Matías Jalaf to break down the aerodynamic secrets of a New Generation TC beast, contrasting the modern aero package with older models while detailing the crucial differences between wings and splitters.
A heavy roster of figures from both sides made sure the day ran smooth. Representing the ACTC were General Secretary Facundo Gil Bicella and Pro-Treasurer Luis Miraldi, while Dean Tomás Avetta, Secretary Gabriel Lescano, University Extension and Culture Secretary Cinthia Pasti, and Professor Guillermo Ceccheto repped the UTN.
This wraps up the first of two scheduled educational sessions leading into the Turismo Carretera weekend in San Nicolás. Tomorrow, the exact same location hosts the Road Safety Workshop featuring Matías Rossi.
