Here is the thing about Turismo Carretera fans: they do not just show up on Sunday. Dedicated followers have been queuing outside the venue since the start of the week, finally getting the green light to stream through the gates on a slightly cloudy Friday morning to set up camp for a massive weekend of racing.
Inside the paddock, the atmosphere is smooth and steady. Teams have finished filing into their respective boxes with their machines, settling in without a hitch. Because this venue sits at a comfortable distance for most, squads and drivers have enjoyed the luxury of extra days working in their workshops before moving into the circuit just ahead of the weekend's action.
Before anyone even sets a timed lap, the city is getting a proper taste of the machinery. Starting today at 17:30, a roaring convoy featuring the cars of Julián Santero, Elio Craparo, and Nicolás Trosset will roll out from gate 6 of the circuit. The procession heads down route 6, cuts across Av. Savio and Av. Alberdi, snakes through Leandro Alem and Juan Manuel de Rosas, and charges down Av. José María Díaz Bancalari all the way to the San Nicolás sign at Costanera Alta. That scenic route leads straight into the official press conference for this twelfth round of the season.
Once the formalities wrap up, the stopwatch takes over. Saturday morning breaks early with the first official practice session for Turismo Carretera kicking off at 09:15, quickly followed by TC Pista running at 10:50. The stage is set at the Autódromo Ciudad de San Nicolás for the second chapter of the Copa de Oro, and everything is in place for a brilliant weekend of motorsport.
