Here is the thing about Turismo Carretera: it is a brutal, unforgiving category where the margin of error simply does not exist. That is the exact reality facing Gaspar Chansard as he prepares to be one of the 53 drivers taking part in the second round of the Copa de Oro. For the driver from Reconquista, hitting the track at San Nicolás carries a uniquely personal flavor.
“Being moderately close to home, it’s a nice date for us. Now we have to take advantage of it,” Chansard stated about racing near his roots. But sentimentality only goes so far in a beast of a national series, and the focus is firmly locked on long-term development rather than immediate points. “We are growing as a team and aiming a lot at next year to be more competitive. We don’t look at the standings, nor the results, but rather we aim to grow as a structure and learn as much as possible,” he added.
Ask him about the regular season, and the diagnosis is clear. Beyond raw speed or machine potential, reliability has been the glaring weakness holding them back all year long. “Hopefully this weekend we can put it all together and get into the top 20, which is our goal,” Chansard shared.
Now, the waiting is almost over. Turismo Carretera roars to life on the circuit in San Nicolás this Saturday morning, kicking off bright and early with the first practice session. Group B hits the asphalt at 9:15, followed immediately by Group A at 9:50.
