Matías Rossi kicked off the Copa de Oro with a retirement, a nightmare result that leaves him starved for points and desperate to salvage every remaining weekend of the season.
Brushing aside the difficult outing at Rosendo Hernandez, the driver from Del Viso is shifting his mindset toward San Nicolás with optimism. “In San Luis we didn't have the start we wanted in terms of scoring points and being better in the championship,” Rossi said. “Past that date now we look forward and are focused on this second commitment. Here I think we can work well because of the characteristics of the track and because last year we had a head-to-head with Agustin Canapino and made the podium.”
Looking further down the calendar, Rossi believes Rosario is another venue where his Toyota Camry can extract a distinct advantage. As for Río Cuarto, which looms on the schedule after Rosario, the man known as the Missile noted: “It is a new track for these cars and we will have to adapt. Whoever understands it better will quickly take advantage.”
Naturally, given his habit of planning well ahead alongside the folks at Toyota, attention has already turned toward the future. When asked if negotiations for next season have gotten underway, Rossi revealed a slight delay: “Not yet. We are a little delayed and from October we moved to November.”
