With just three rounds remaining in the 2026 Turismo Carretera season, Facundo Chapur sits at the summit of the Copa de Oro standings. The Trotta Racing driver holds 82,5 points, cementing his status as a genuine heavyweight candidate for the crown as the championship enters its decisive phase.
Crucially, the machine already has the mandatory victory required by the regulations to claim the title. That box was ticked back at the sixth final of the year, held at the autodromo de Alta Gracia, giving the entire camp immense peace of mind.
Reliability has been a mostly faithful ally, with the autodromo de Concepción del Uruguay marking the single round where the Torino failed to see the checkered flag. Looking back at the regular season, that retirement stood as the lowest ebb, contrasted sharply by the magnificent triumph secured in Cordoba.
The rest of the regular season journey featured a gritty mix of results across the calendar: El Calafate yielded a 16th place finish, Viedma a strong 5th, Neuquén an 8th, Termas de Río Hondo an 11th, Rafaela a bruising 27th, Posadas a 17th, San Juan a 14th, and Paraná a 19th.
Once the Copa de Oro kicked off, things clicked into an entirely different gear. Across the two opening races of the mini-tournament, Chapur, nicknamed “Metralleta”, fought his way into the top ten in both outings with an 8th in San Luis and a brilliant 2nd in San Nicolás.
The statistical shift tells the whole story of a team hitting its stride at the right moment. During the regular season, the average points haul per race sat at 20,25 pts, but once the Copa began—stripping away the 8 points carried in—that average skyrocketed to 37,25 pts per chapter.
