The roar of motorcycles is returning to the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in Andalusia with the arrival of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. But the passion for two-wheeled travel doesn’t stop when the chequered flag drops. Andalusia offers a prime setting to extend the experience beyond the track, presenting a region tailor-made for motorcycle riding.
From roads winding through mountain ranges to coastal landscapes, forests, and desert areas, every route offers a unique way to explore the south of the Iberian Peninsula. One of the great appeals of motorcycle travel is that the journey itself becomes part of the experience, and Andalusia features a vast array of places waiting to be discovered. Its heritage reflects the passage of numerous civilisations, with influences clear in the architecture, agriculture, cuisine, landscapes, and the character of its people. From large cities to small villages, every stop offers a chance to explore a different part of the region's history and culture, complemented by dining, accommodation, and services along roads and trails far removed from major population centres.
It is practically impossible to speak of a single Andalusian landscape, as its vastness and diversity make the region feel like a small continent. The Guadalquivir basin encompasses fertile rival plains, rolling farmlands, and marshes stretching towards the coast, while mountainous areas conceal forests and ravines. Further east, areas such as Tabernas, Guadix, and the Granada Highlands emerge with some of the continent's most arid landscapes, and the Sierra Morena range presents a completely different facet. This variety turns every day on the motorcycle into a unique experience, aided by a climate featuring mild winters, lush springs, sunny summers, and colourful autumns.
The region also boasts nine Biosphere Reserves, three National Parks, and over 120 historic sites designated as Assets of Cultural Interest. Journeys can lead to places like Los Millares in Almeria, alongside over 64 million olive trees that create a unique landscape and the Pulpi Geode. Travelling through Andalusia also means discovering it through its gastronomy, allowing riders to combine roads and landscapes with stops to experience local products and traditions firsthand. Highlights include the World Cheese Award won by Olavidia cheese and the international recognition received by baker Domi Velez.
The possibilities are not limited to tarmac. Andalusia offers routes along both roads and dirt tracks, ranging from long-distance journeys to shorter trips suitable for electric motorcycles. Many of these routes avoid highways and major urban centres, bringing travellers closer to a quieter side of Andalusia. With the arrival of WorldSBK at Jerez, the Pirelli Spanish Round serves as the starting point to explore everything the region has to offer beyond the racetrack.
