The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship arrives at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in Andalucia for the final round of an historic season, and Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) is ready to rewrite the record books one last time before his move to MotoGP.
Bulega currently sits on 49 wins. If he takes a hat-trick at Jerez, he will climb to 52 victories, drawing level with Troy Bayliss in fifth place on the all-time list. That comes on top of his astonishing run of 46 podiums in WorldSBK, already the longest streak of all time. Three more at Jerez would push him to 49, putting him one shy of double the previous record of 25, which was set by both Colin Edwards and Toprak Razgatlioglu. Furthermore, with just one more podium in 2026, Bulega will match Jonathan Rea for rostrums in a single campaign, with Rea having claimed 34 in his 2019 title-winning year.
Qualifying also presents a milestone. Bulega has the chance to match Ben Spies’ 2009 pole tally of 11 if he takes pole at Jerez, which would tie the Italian and the American for the most poles in a single season. Ducati themselves have a chance to claim every pole this season, a feat they last recorded in 1992 with 13 poles. Historically, the venue has favoured starting near the front: the last 17 wins here, starting from 2019, came only from the first two grid spots. In fact, only one win at the circuit did not come from the first six grid places, managed by Jonathan Rea when he won from 9th in 2017, Race 2.
Ducati enter the weekend dominating the manufacturer stats. The Bologna-based manufacturer is aiming to repeat a clean sweep of every race in a campaign—a feat they managed in 2003 with 24 wins—by chasing 36 victories in 2026. Ducati's current streak of 37 victories, which started in Race 1 at Estoril last season, is already an all-time record. At Jerez specifically, Ducati are the manufacturer with the most podiums at 32, well ahead of Kawasaki with 18. Ducati are also the most successful manufacturer here with 17 wins, eclipsing the sum of their competitors: Aprilia and Kawasaki with 4 each, Yamaha with 3, and BMW with 1. Their best winning streak at the track stands at 5 victories from 2023 Race 1 to 2024’s Superpole Race, before it was broken by BMW winning Race 2 with Razgatlioglu.
When it comes to individual success at the Andalucian venue, the record number of 5 wins is currently split between Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Bulega, who both claimed their victories with the Panigale V4R machine. Jerez has seen 10 different polesitters overall, with only two riders managing to record two pole positions here: Tom Sykes in 2015 and 2016, alongside Nicolò Bulega in 2024 and 2025. Meanwhile, Toprak Razgatlioglu previously rewrote the podium count here by becoming the first rider with 10 podiums, taking the record of 9 from Jonathan Rea in 2024, before increasing his own benchmark to 12 last year.
