The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season has barely closed its doors, yet the focus has swung violently toward 2027. Just days after wrapping up the final round, the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia is keeping its gates open for a two-day test on Thursday and Friday. While only a select group of outfits have elected to stay behind in Spain, the paddock's gaze is fixed firmly on the future.
Honda HRC is rolling out a fascinating lineup for the test. They will send out Jake Dixon and Somkiat Chantra, backed by Jonathan Rea handling test team duties. It is a critical outing for Honda, particularly given the technical landscape: they were the sole squad running Nissin brakes in 2026 before Brembo steps in as the exclusive braking systems supplier for 2027.
Over in the BMW garage, the test team is back on duty with Michael van der Mark taking the handlebars of the BMW M1000RR machine. The Dutchman has logged massive mileage in testing throughout 2026 while occasionally stepping in to race, and he is back at it again as the factory prepares for a 2027 campaign that will welcome Brad Binder.
Independent Ducati representation rounds out the pit lane lineup at Jerez. Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team) finished his 2026 campaign on a high with three rostrums, and he is eager to translate that momentum into testing as he faces a revised ruleset for 2027 featuring new tyres, brakes, and the re-introduction of rev limits. Lorenzo Baldassarri (Team GoEleven) is also on track representing the Ducati family, locking in his continuity with the squad as everyone gears up for the changes ahead.
