According to Motorsport.com, Rackley W.A.R. is pulling the plug on its NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series operation immediately. The team will officially cease operations following Friday's race at Talladega Superspeedway, bringing a sudden end to their full-time presence in the championship.
Since first hitting the grid in 2021, the outfit has been a familiar fixture of the series. Their absolute high-water mark came right here at Talladega back in 2022, when Matt DiBenedetto drove them to their lone victory. This year, they have fielded the No. 26 machine full-time for Dawson Sutton, alongside part-time entries in the No. 27 shared by drivers Toni Breidinger and Kasey Kleyn.
Co-owners Curtis Sutton and Willie Allen addressed the closure in a joint statement, noting that the choice to shut down the Truck Series program was a difficult one after six seasons of full-time competition. "We are incredibly grateful for our determined and hardworking drivers, employees, and partners who have made this team their home," the statement read. They highlighted the 2022 Talladega win as one of their proudest accomplishments while emphasizing that their commitment to motorsport is far from over.
While the Truck chapter closes, the organization plans to focus its energy elsewhere. The team stated that they remain hungry for wins in their national late model driver development program. Since combining Willie Allen Racing and Rackley Roofing at the start of 2021, they have stacked up nearly 50 late model victories across the country and intend to keep pushing in that arena.
Meanwhile, Dawson Sutton's future is already locked in for the longer term. Sutton is set to join TRICON Garage in 2027, where he will pilot the No. 5 Toyota on a full-time basis.
