Now, that is how you end a drought. Mauricio Lambiris put on a masterclass at the Autódromo Municipal Juan Manuel Fangio, steering his Ford Mustang—run by the team of Jerónimo Teti—to the pole position for the Gran Premio AFA de Rosario. He did it in absolute style, smashing the circuit record with a blistering time of 1:35,092 during the third round of the Copa de Oro Río Uruguay Seguros.
That single lap didn't just hand him two valuable championship points; it also delivered his fourth pole in TC after a grueling four-and-a-half-year wait since Viedma in 2022. It is the kind of reward that makes all the patience worthwhile when the machine finally hooks up just right.
Right behind him came Matías Rossi, the most recent winner at this venue, who steered his Toyota to second place just 192 milésimas adrift. Otto Fritzler rounded out the top three in his Mercedes, finishing 295 milésimas back from Lambiris. These three front-runners will control the start of tomorrow's heat races.
Further down the order, the competition was fierce and tightly packed. Marco Dianda took fourth, three décimas behind the pace, followed by Julián Santero in fifth, Diego Azar in sixth, Juan Martín Trucco in seventh, Facundo Ardusso in eighth, José Manuel Urcera in ninth, and Jonatan Castellano rounding out the top ten. In fact, the entire field down to the 19th position managed to squeeze within a single second of the pole time.
Everything sets the stage for a dramatic Sunday. The action continues with three series running at 10:55, 11:20, and 11:45 respectively, leading up to the final at 14:00 hours to crown the winner of the thirteenth round of the championship, with only two editions left in the season.
