Thirty years of racing history at the Autódromo Roberto Mouras in La Plata is quite something to behold. Back on October 20, 1996, the circuit finally opened its doors for a Turismo Carretera date after heavy rains pushed back the original schedule. Emilio Satriano took the inaugural victory for Chevrolet from behind, sharing the podium with Juan María Traverso in second and Luis Minervino in third, even though Omar Martínez had grabbed the best time in qualifying.
Over the years, this venue has hosted 35 Turismo Carretera finals and cemented its place as an absolute cornerstone of ACTC categories. Martínez stands out as the master of the track with five total victories, all piloting a Ford. His wins span from November 1997 up to a deeply special triumph on December 13, 2015, where he secured both the race win and his second and final championship.
When looking at the manufacturers, Ford reigns supreme with 17 total victories at the circuit. That tally includes five from Martínez, three from Juan Manuel Silva, two apiece for Mariano Werner and Emanuel Moriatis, plus single wins courtesy of Ernesto Bessone, Diego Aventín, Fabián Acuña, Rafael Verna, and Mauro Giallombardo. Chevrolet follows closely with 13 wins, taking both the very first and the most recent editions, including victories by Agustín Canapino in 2023 and 2025 alongside Diego Ciantini in 2024. Dodge claims four victories through Bessone and Norberto Fontana, while Torino holds a single win courtesy of Julián Santero in 2017.
The circuit has also played host to monumental championship showdowns. Before the introduction of the Copa de Oro, Martínez in 2004 and Fontana in 2006 both secured titles here with a race to spare. Once the Copa de Oro format arrived in 2008, La Plata served as the ultimate battleground on six occasions. Giallombardo won the title here in 2012, Martínez repeated the feat in 2015, and Guillermo Ortelli claimed his seventh career championship in 2016 despite José Manuel Urcera taking the race victory. More recently, Santero took a Torino win in 2017 while Canapino secured his second TC title, Ciantini won with Chevrolet in 2024 while the championship went to Santero, and Canapino dominated the 2025 edition to claim his fifth title.
Canapino holds the outright circuit record with a blistering time of 1:22.725 aboard his Chevrolet Camaro. With Turismo Carretera returning to decide another championship on December 6, this legendary Argentine venue continues adding chapters to its incredible story.
