Now, that is how you set up an afternoon of speed. Matías Rossi laid down the quickest lap of the second Turismo Carretera practice session in Rosario, stopping the clocks at a brilliant 1:34,958 behind the wheel of his Pradecon Racing Toyota Camry.
Behind the leader, the margins were simply razor-thin. Otto Fritzler slotted into second place in his Mercedes Benz, trailing by just 55 milésimas, while Mauricio Lambiris grabbed third in his Ford Mustang exactly 1 décima off the pace.
The speed was not just at the very sharp end of the field, either. The chasing pack featured José Manuel Urcera in fourth at 4 décimas, followed by first-session pacesetter Diego Azar in fifth, Hernán Palazzo in sixth, Luis José Di Palma in seventh, Facundo Chapur in eighth, Facundo Ardusso in ninth, and Julián Santero rounding out the top ten. In fact, an incredible blanket covered the top 15 drivers, with every single one of them finishing within less than a second of the benchmark.
Interestingly, both practice sessions belonged entirely to drivers hailing from Del Viso, with Azar taking the honors in the opening run before Rossi claimed the second.
All eyes now turn to the critical test of the day. The battle for pole position for the third round of the Copa de Oro is just moments away, with qualifying scheduled to kick off at 15:55 hours, neatly split into four quarters of 8 minutes each.
