Here's the thing about bitter rivalries in the paddock: they rarely stay on the track, and as Crash.net reports, the war between Helmut Marko and Christian Horner has spilled brutally onto the printed page. Horner’s new memoir, titled 'Drive' and released on 22 October, brings a wave of stinging criticisms directed squarely at his former Red Bull colleague. The pair have been locked in a fierce feud following their exits from Red Bull, trading sharp remarks with Marko accusing Horner of playing dirty games during his time in charge.
That said, Horner’s book goes much further. The former boss, who was sacked after 20 years at the helm of the Milton Keynes squad in July 2025, points the finger at Marko for Red Bull’s junior driver failures. Horner’s memoir claims that Marko actively pushed for his dismissal and even leaked internal and operational data to the media. Furthermore, Horner alleges that Marko never reached out when Beverley Allen, the mother of his daughter, passed away from eye cancer last year.
I only want to correct one claim: that I did indeed offer my condolences after the death of his ex-partner Beverly.
Marko has wasted no time in dismantling those assertions during an interview with the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung. "That's a collection of untruths of such a low calibre that I won't address them," Marko said.
He did, however, single out one specific allegation to refute. "I only want to correct one claim: that I did indeed offer my condolences after the death of his ex-partner Beverly." According to the publication, Marko even proved this by showing the message to the interviewing journalist on his phone.
Unfortunately, the grievances do not stop at personal claims. Marko also blasted the timing of Horner’s book release, pointing out that it coincides with the fourth anniversary of the death of Red Bull co-owner and energy drink giant Dietrich Mateschitz. The 83-year-old Austrian made his feelings clear on that matter. "The fact that the book is being published on the very day Dietrich Mateschitz died is an embarrassment," he stated.
