It was a properly strong weekend for Liam Lawson at the United States Grand Prix, the Racing Bulls driver adding valuable points to the team's tally with a clean P9 finish.
Lining up as best of the rest in ninth place on the grid behind the Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren drivers, Lawson kept his nose clean to bring his Racing Bulls machine home in that exact same position. The 24-year-old was full of praise for how the squad operated across the entire event at the Circuit of The Americas, with the result cementing their grip on P5 in the Teams' Championship.
"When everyone finishes, for us it's a P9 or a P10 – that's sort of the best we can do," Lawson said. "Honestly we executed really well today – we had a great race, so couldn't really do more. Overall it's been a strong weekend."
With his consistent run rolling on, the driver admitted he feels completely comfortable in the car right now and is eager to tackle the next two rounds in the latest triple header. Looking ahead to the unique challenges of Mexico and Brazil, he noted that the team is simply in a very good place.
On the other side of the garage, Arvid Lindblad had a much tougher Sunday afternoon. A five-place grid penalty for using additional power unit elements dropped the Briton down to P14 on the grid. He fought his way forward to cross the finishing line in 12th place, though he admitted to being somewhat baffled by how his race unfolded after trying an unusual two-stop strategy and getting held up in traffic.
Even with the tactical headaches and a messy opening lap where everything stacked up, Lindblad found a genuine silver lining. He felt far more comfortable in the machine during the race than he had through most of the practice sessions, rating it as one of the best feelings he has had behind the wheel all year.
