That milestone weekend has finally arrived for Max Verstappen, who is celebrating his 250th Grand Prix on the streets of Singapore. Marking just over a decade since the Dutchman kicked off his trophy-filled F1 career, F1.com sat down with the four-time World Champion to put a mountain of reader questions directly to him.
Fans were eager to dive into everything from his racing fears to his home life. Reminded of the chaotic 2024 Sao Paulo race and its zero-visibility conditions, Verstappen pointed out that his 2016 drive in Sao Paulo was even worse. Reflecting on the insane conditions, he noted that everyone faced the same struggle, calling it a very important win for him at the time. When asked about who he would trust to babysit his cats, the choice was simple: Alex Albon, because he owns quite a few cats himself and definitely knows what to do.
Away from the circuit, Verstappen has found some unexpected pastimes. He picked up padel a few years ago despite never playing a racket sport before, and he now enjoys it a lot. As for food, he revealed a taste for tomato soup and beef carpaccio. Life as a new dad has also brought simple joys, with the Red Bull driver explaining that the best part is simply spending time with his little girl, watching her grow, and seeing that she is his.
Naturally, the questions spanned his fierce battles on track and his past teammates. Asked if he misses being team mate to Daniel Ricciardo, Verstappen admitted he definitely misses those times, noting they still catch up and have a good laugh when they see each other. Looking back across his 249 Grands Prix, however, he found it hard to pinpoint a single lesson, preferring to view the entire journey as general experience that makes a driver better. If forced to design a dream race day from the past, he would choose Spa, early 2000s F1 cars like the 2004 machines, and his dad.
When asked about life outside the cockpit, Verstappen kept his answers grounded. If he had never succeeded in F1, he would still work in motorsport, likely in a management role or advising young talents. As for his legacy, he simply wants people to remember him as honest, straightforward, and always being himself. There are no grand dinners with famous legends on his bucket list either; he would rather spend time with his friends and family, keeping life very simple.
