What a wild weekend in San Luis. Amidst biting low temperatures and actual snowfall, Fadel Memo Corse pulled off a stunning double triumph, taking top honors in both Turismo Carretera and TC Pista through Mariano Werner and Benjamín Antón respectively. It was an absolute masterclass that mirrored their exact exploits from the fifth round at Termas de Río Hondo, where both drivers also swept the top step.
Here is the craziest part: neither driver managed to claim a single pole position across either of these two weekends. Back in Termas de Río Hondo, the top qualifying honors went to Matías Rossi in Turismo Carretera—where Werner could only manage 5th—while Gabriel Gandulia took the TC Pista pole with Antón down in 7th. Yet, qualifying is only half the battle for these machines.
Despite missing out on pole in both instances, Werner simply dominated his Saturdays by winning the two series he contested. Antón had a trickier path, battling car troubles in Termas that left him 7th in his battery, though he bounced back to claim his battery win outright in San Luis.
When the lights went out for the finals, the racecraft did the heavy lifting. In Termas, the driver from Paraná fought off Rossi at the start and repeatedly shut the door through multiple restarts in his Ford. In San Luis, he simply led from lights to flag, keeping his Mustang N°11 out front where it belonged. Antón took a completely different route, never starting from the front row on either occasion. In their first meeting, he sliced past three rivals and survived a bruising, hard-fought battle with Juan Sebastián Gallo to grab the win. Then, in the Copa de Oro, he pounced on a mistake from Damiani, executing a gorgeous scissors maneuver to swipe the victory.
Looking at the broader picture, the team is enjoying an incredible run. In Turismo Carretera, Werner sits comfortably at the top of the standings with 53 points, standing alone as the only driver with two wins in the championship. Meanwhile, the TC Pista standings show Damiani leading with 73 points, but Antón is right there as the closest challenger in 2nd with 53 points. They are joined in the Copa de Plata hunt by Nicanor Santilli Pazos in 5th with 34 points and Faustino Cifre in 9th.
