Here is the machine that starts an entirely new chapter for an iconic British marque. Jaguar has pulled the cover off the Type 01, an ultra-luxury, zero-emission four-door GT that serves as the legendary brand's first production car of its rebooted, all-electric era. This is a clean-sheet reset that nods heavily to the past, with the "Type" name honoring legends like the E-Type, while the "0" stands for zero emissions and the "1" marks the start of this fresh generation.
Underneath that striking exterior sits a tri-motor setup pumping out an astonishing 1,030PS (1,016bhp) and 1,365Nm of torque. That immense power translates to a blistering 0-62mph time of 3.2 seconds. But the numbers do not stop there. Drawing directly on track-to-road engineering insights honed by the double world championship-winning Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team, the electric power delivery is calibrated for deep rolling power, pushing the car from 62mph to 112mph (100km/h to 180km/h) in just 4.0 seconds.
Underpinning the flagship is the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture, or JEA, which brings dramatic "exuberant modernist" proportions to life. You get a low roofline, an elongated bonnet, a short front overhang, and massive 23-inch wheels wrapped around an ideal 50:50 weight distribution for sharp dynamic handling. Active aerodynamics—including active vanes and a three-stage deployable rear spoiler—help yield a sleek 0.23 drag coefficient, working alongside intelligent torque vectoring.
Energy management is equally serious. A usable 118kWh battery pack promises up to 400 miles of EPA range, or 450 miles (720km) on the WLTP cycle. When it is time to plug in, an ultra-fast 850-volt electrical architecture lets you add 200 miles of range in just 13 minutes when hooked up to a 350kW rapid DC charger.
Inside, the cabin matches the exterior drama with a tech-forward layout. A central longitudinal spine splits the interior into four distinct zones, featuring brass-effect anodised aluminium trim, a single glass 24-inch OLED Interactive Driver Display, a secondary 7-inch touchscreen console, and a full-width Panoramic Soundbar with sensory audio seats.
Designed, engineered, and manufactured in the UK, the Type 01 positions itself firmly in high-end luxury territory. Pricing starts from £130,000, which translates to $130,500 in the US, with higher-spec and bespoke builds expected to reach beyond £150,000. Order books for the new flagship are set to open in early 2027, with the first client deliveries scheduled for the second half of that year.
