Here is the thing about racing: the absolute high of a victory can turn into a brutal machine of bad luck in a heartbeat. That is exactly what happened to Fermin Aldeguer, who went from tasting success at the 2025 Indonesian GP to a disaster in 2026 when he crashed right out of podium contention.
That heavy fall left the #54 with a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand. It is a nasty injury for any rider, requiring successful surgery to piece things back together, but it has left him completely sidelined for the upcoming Round 19 at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.
Thankfully, the team has a proven pair of hands ready to step into the breach. Stepping up to pilot the machine once again is none other than 2026 WorldSBK runner-up Iker Lecuona. He will take over the #54 seat, filling in just as he did previously in Australia.
We join everyone in wishing Fermin a very fast recovery and hoping to see him back on track soon.
