Here is the thing about the junior single-seater ladder: it keeps growing its horizons. The FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially unveiled their calendars for the 2027 campaign, bringing a wild mix of fresh tracks and iconic stops while continuing to support Formula 1.
For 2027, Formula 2 will pack 14 rounds into its season, while Formula 3 will contest 10 rounds alongside the grand prix circus. Both championships kick off their respective campaigns in March in Bahrain and Jeddah, before jetting off to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May.
There are some seriously interesting additions to the schedules. Formula 2 heads back to Montreal after making its debut there in 2026, while Mexico City joins the calendar for the very first time. Istanbul also enters the mix, hosting a race for the first time in the FIA Formula 2 era. Over in Formula 3, the machines will tackle Jeddah and Montreal for the first time, and the season finale will unfold at that same new venue in Istanbul.
Following those early flyaways, both series converge in June for Monaco, which leads straight into back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg. After the summer break, the action picks back up at Monza and then moves on to Madrid. F2 handles a standalone supporting gig in Azerbaijan in September before both series reunite in Istanbul for the season-ending F3 round.
F2 then closes out its own year with a trip to Mexico at the end of October, followed by the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, emphasized the importance of the pathway: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City.”
Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, highlighted the logistics behind the expansion: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.”
