Here is the thing, Formula 1 team bosses have made it clear they want to know where the season finale will be hosted by mid-October. That said, as RaceFans reports, the championship could wait until as late as mid-November before making a final call on its last round of the year.
The series still intends to run its final two races as planned in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. However, ongoing disruption caused by the US-Iran war has put those plans in doubt and led the sport to enlist the Imola circuit as a potential alternative venue for the final race.
Meanwhile, according to a report in The Telegraph, there were rumours during the recent stops in Malaysia and Singapore where the sport spent the last fortnight. Those rumours suggested some sort of deal had been done between Qatar, the UAE, and Iran to guarantee security, which has given Formula 1 increased confidence to press ahead.
All of this uncertainty follows missile strikes that hit an airport in nearby Saudi Arabia, whose world championship round was cancelled earlier this year. Despite that disruption, Formula 1 is currently due to return to the country in March next year.
