Now, that is how you make an entrance. Kimi Antonelli arrives at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix having already secured the Drivers' Championship, stepping into the paddock as Formula 1's youngest World Champion.
The Mercedes driver clinched the 2026 crown in his sophomore season last weekend by finishing third in the Mexico City Grand Prix, taking the title at the age of just 20. In doing so, he beat the record previously held by Sebastian Vettel (yes, that Sebastian Vettel).
Speaking on Thursday's media day in Brazil, Antonelli admitted that it has been an amazing two days, though he still has not had enough time to realise and digest what has just happened. It still feels surreal, by his own admission, even after receiving a flood of nice messages and watching videos of his hometown celebrating.
Among the countless tributes, a personal favourite stood out. A video from the four-time World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, delivered a very deep message with a lot of meaning and advice for the future. Praise also rolled in from other drivers on the grid, with Max, Lewis, Charles, and Lando all reaching out with super nice words that left the young champion grateful to see so much respect and support.

Between the celebrations, Antonelli managed to recharge by spending time with the Senna family, an experience he describes as truly incredible and unforgettable. That downtime was badly needed, as the past couple of days have proved very demanding amidst all the excitement.
Now, attention turns back to the tarmac. Mercedes can still claim the teams' title this weekend in Brazil, and Antonelli's mindset is simple: he wants to enjoy the remaining races while fighting for the wins.
The goal coming here is to win. It is a track that he loves, backed by amazing fans, making it a really cool place to start everything again after clinching the title.
