Here is a massive shift for young talent coming through the ranks. Yamaha Motor Europe has officially announced that the FIM Yamaha BLU CRU World Cup is stepping up to the bigger Yamaha R7, moving away from the R3 package after six successful seasons. Since its launch in 2021, this category has been built entirely to help talented young riders find their path to the world stage.
Now, the machinery gets a serious upgrade. Competitors in the 2027 season will race the latest Yamaha R7, which was introduced in 2026. This machine is powered by a 689cc CP2 engine, a platform that already proved its pedigree by propelling Carter Thompson (Team BrCorse) to podiums and victories in WorldSPB’s maiden season.
The championship format keeps the riders right where they want to be: sharing the paddock with WorldSBK across a selection of European rounds. The full campaign consists of 12 races spread across six rounds.
To keep the series accessible for aspiring young competitors, the full-season package is priced at €29,000. That fee covers the use of a race-prepared Yamaha R7, alongside leathers, tyres, fuel, and race entry fees. Registration is set to open shortly, with interested riders instructed to email [email protected] to register their interest and get notified when official registration opens.
Action gets underway with a pre-season test at Cremona running from 6–8 April (note the testing dates span three days in the calendar details, starting from the 6th). From there, the season kicks off properly at the iconic TT Circuit Assen.
