Here is the thing about racing: it can change in a single heartbeat. Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) has updated fans on social media, confirming that his surgery was successful and that he is "OK".
The #54 sustained a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand following a crash. It happened on Sunday during the Indonesian GP.
Everything unraveled quickly at the track. Aldeguer suffered a Turn 16 crash on Lap 2 of the Indonesian GP, dropping out of fourth position.
He later confirmed that surgery was required. Right now, his participation in next weekend’s Australian GP remains unconfirmed.
