Here is the thing about Friday practice: sometimes the script repeats itself in the most fascinating way. Just as he managed last time out in Austin, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc topped the timesheets in both Friday practice sessions at Mexico City's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. And just like we saw Stateside, all the early signs point to a proper four-team fight for pole position.
Now, anyone who watched the weekend unfold in Austin knows how this story went. Ferrari looked genuinely brilliant on Friday in Texas, only to miss out on converting that pace into pole on Saturday. So what are the actual chances of them reversing that trend here in Mexico?
That is a very good question indeed. On paper, the red machines should be in much better shape to pull it off. According to the data, they are holding an advantage of around 0.17 seconds in the qualifying simulations.
