Here's the thing about arriving at a Grand Prix weekend carrying the absolute weight of history: you need every ounce of strength you have. Kimi Antonelli touched down in Mexico earlier this week knowing he stands on the brink of becoming Formula 1's youngest World Champion. That massive stakes come straight off the back of a beautifully crafted victory last Sunday in Austin.
Unfortunately, we did not get to hear from him on Thursday in the Mexico City paddock. The Mercedes racer was under the weather while recovering from a viral illness, leaving media sessions rather quiet without him.
The 20-year-old stayed at the hotel after being given dispensation to miss his mandatory media duties at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
