Matías Rossi put together a solid weekend at the autódromo de Rosario, bringing his Toyota Camry home in second place during the thirteenth round of the calendar. While he fought at the front throughout the event, the driver from Del Viso made no secret of his desire to have stood on the highest step of the podium instead.
That Rosario result leaves him sitting eighth in the championship standings with 78 points. He currently trails the leader, Julián Santero, by 38.5 points, though there are still 117.5 points remaining on the table. "We are not in bad shape, but at this stage, we have a major disadvantage in that we do not have a victory," noted the driver known as El Misil.
Looking closely at the standings, Rossi offered a clear assessment of who is truly in the hunt for the Gold Cup. "Rosario caused a break in the championship. Julián Santero, Facundo Chapur, Mariano Werner, Agustín Canapino, and Otto Fritzler are the contenders. A priori, I see it that way, and the champion could be among them. They have well-deserved it for the year they've had so far. The rest of us depend on others," he stated.
Turismo Carretera now heads to Río Cuarto for its next commitment, marking a long-awaited return to the "Imperio Cordobés" to host the penultimate round of the tournament. Looking ahead to the challenge, Rossi highlighted the nature of the venue. "It is a very motorsport-passionate place where I have good memories. It is a layout where top speed plays its role, but you also have to turn in medium- and high-speed corners. If we find a good balance, Río Cuarto is one to take advantage of with our Toyota. Another factor in our favor is that we do not have weight penalties."
