Wild changes arrive right at the sharp end of the championship. With just two rounds remaining until the end of the season, Turismo Carretera champion Agustín Canapino has officially split with his engine builder, Martín Costanzo.
The announcement came down on Monday via a social media statement issued alongside Canning Motorsports. It marks a massive shift for a technical pairing that secured a championship in 2025 and took seven victories together.
The motor is ready, this week we will finish some details and then it will be dynoed at the Canning workshop to see how we are.
“I want to communicate, together with Canning Motorsports, that our working stage with Martín Costanzo as an engine builder has ended,” Canapino expressed in his message, thanking Costanzo and his crew for their dedication and shared success while wishing them well in future challenges.
Stepping into the role is none other than Prospero Bonelli, commonly known as Pope. The incoming engine builder did not hide his enthusiasm about the unexpected call-up.
“The truth is I am happy that they chose us, that they noticed us,” Bonelli said. He also confirmed the state of the machinery: “The motor is ready, this week we will finish some details and then it will be dynoed at the Canning workshop to see how we are.”
Bonelli revealed that his workshop currently holds two power units. The specific machine destined for Canapino's car is the exact same one used by Josito Di Palma during the 2025 season.
