Citroën Racing has announced a fresh leadership structure ahead of the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, appointing Beth Paretta as Team Principal and adding Frederic Espinos to the management team. Paretta steps into the role after supporting the outfit as Managing Director during its inaugural season. Meanwhile, Espinos joins the French manufacturer as he moves from his previous position as Deputy Team Principal at the Lola Yamaha ABT squad.
This restructuring follows the tragic passing of Cyril Blais, who previously led the team in that role. Blais was widely respected across the electric championship, and the series honored his memory earlier this year during the Tokyo double-header event, where Nick Cassidy secured two back-to-back podium finishes for the team in his honor.
Alongside the management changes, Citroën pulled the cover off its new look for the upcoming GEN4 era. The machine keeps the red, white, and blue colors that proved popular with fans during the 2025/26 campaign. Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citroën Design, explained that the updated livery retains the core identity from last season while adapting to the more dynamic character of the GEN4 machine. The design incorporates metallic finishes intended to bring the car to life in the light, alongside a gradient built from parametric chevrons whose density shifts between different shades.
This new chapter also extends an enduring partnership, with the team reuniting with TotalEnergies for the GEN4 regulations. The collaboration between the two automotive giants dates back to 1968, boasting a rich history of success primarily in rallying before expanding into the world of single-seater electric racing.
Looking ahead to the technological leap of the new ruleset, Paretta emphasized the scale of the challenge. "GEN4 is much more than an evolution of the previous car: it is faster, more powerful and technologically more advanced, and it will change the way we approach race weekends," Paretta stated. She noted that the backing of Stellantis Motorsport and a fully committed brand position the team well to be competitive right from the start.
Espinos arrives at Citroën with deep experience in the paddock, having previously worked as Sporting Manager with ABT Sportsline and stepping onto the podium in Shanghai earlier this year when Lucas di Grassi took a shock victory. "This is a project that brings together many of the ingredients needed to succeed: a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, an experienced team, two top-level drivers and a clear ambition as we enter the GEN4 era," Espinos said.
On the driver front, Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne are officially locked in to return as the full-time lineup for the 2026/27 campaign. Boasting 23 wins between them in the championship, the pairing delivered strong results in the team's debut season, highlighted by Cassidy's victory in just their second race at the 2026 Mexico City E-Prix. The squad will kick off its campaign when the 2026/27 season gets underway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on December 18 & 19.
