As Motorsport.com reports, Jesse Love had to work every single ounce of grip out of his machine to take his fifth career NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series win at Phoenix Raceway, clutching a dominant 75-point victory that instantly launches him to the head of the championship standings.
It was a stunning drive from the pole-sitter, who commanded 156 of the 200 laps on Saturday. But the real story of the day belonged to Sam Mayer, who clawed his way up from a miserable 35th-place start all the way to the runner-up spot. Mayer caught Love on the very final lap, sending his car deep into the final corner and aggressively brushing the rear bumper of Love's No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. At the checkered flag, just 0.128s separated them. "Honestly, it felt like they were a little better than we were at the end," Love admitted after the race.
The race itself was absolute chaos from the drop of the green flag. Love controlled the early running, but the weather quickly intervened with a caution for light rain. With NASCAR's new rules giving teams the freedom to choose their tire compounds, Brandon Jones gambled on wet-weather tires, a roll of the dice that unfortunately backfired completely and dropped him off the lead lap. Meanwhile, Coree Day pulled off a wild save on the backstretch, sliding sideways and slapping the wall while fighting alongside Crews. Love ultimately claimed Stage 1, but drama struck immediately afterward when Creed lost power during the stage break, requiring a push to the pits and losing three laps while mechanics frantically worked under the hood.

Restarts proved to be Love's main weak point all afternoon. Justin Allgaier slipped past him to take the lead at the start of Stage 2, while Jake Finch was forced to park his car in the garage due to engine issues. True to form, however, Love hunted down the leader once the tyres settled, clawing his way back past Allgaier to sweep both stages before the final run. Stage 3 brought even more carnage when teammates Brennan Poole and Lavar Scott collided on-track, dragging Tay. Gray into the crash just after Gray had been slapped with an end-of-line penalty for a loose wheel rolling out of his pit box.
Green-flag pit stops kicked off with 48 laps remaining, punctuated by another spin from Poole that briefly shuffled Retzlaff and H. Burton to the front before they pitted. Love reclaimed the lead on the ensuing restart, but Mayer was waiting in the wings, sitting just over two seconds back before launching his fierce final-lap lunge. Behind the thrilling lead duel, Justin Allgaier brought his machine home in third, Corey Day finished fourth, and Sammy Smith rounded out the top five. Brandon Jones, Dean Thompson, William Sawalich, Rajah Caruth, and Carson Kvapil completed the rest of the top ten in the desert.
