Here is the reality of the weekend ahead at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: both the NASCAR Cup Series and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series are rolling back to the 1.5-mile facility for their second visits of the season. Thankfully, nobody has to sweat the bump. With exactly 36 entries locked in for each field, every single machine entered is guaranteed a spot on the starting grid. No drama at the cutline, just pure speed against the clock.
The sorting order for both grids will be decided via single-car, single-lap qualifying sessions on Saturday. For the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series crowd, the engines fire up for time at 3:05 p.m. ET with television and streaming coverage on ESPN Unlimited. Later that same day, the heavy hitters of the NASCAR Cup Series take over the track for their single-car runs at 5:35 p.m. ET, broadcast live on truTV.
As the entry lists shake out on track, keep a close eye on the official designations attached to the field. Certain competitors carry specific markers for the weekend: some are required to qualify on time, rookies are marked, others are running ineligible for driver points, and Chase participants in either the driver or owner championships carry their own distinct indicators.
