It is an absolute disaster for Takaaki Nakagami, whose home weekend at the Mobility Resort Motegi has been cut tragically short before it even truly began. A crash early on Friday during FP1 has left him with a left collarbone fracture, meaning he will not complete his weekend on home turf.
Here is the thing about this machine of a rider: he was back on track as a wildcard for Honda, continuing his work with the manufacturer where he remains a development rider. This appearance followed a previous outing where he was replacing the sidelined Joan Mir at Honda HRC Castrol last time out in Austria.
Now, unfortunately, all of that momentum stops dead. Focus completely shifts to recovery for the rider, and we can only wish him well as he begins the healing process from this nasty injury on home soil.
