Look back at the last time Turismo Carretera visited Río Cuarto in the 2012 season, and you will find a fascinating contrast between Próspero Bonelli and none other than Agustín Canapino. That weekend brought 48 drivers to the entry list, featuring the entrerriano competing with a Ford machine at the time. When the books closed on that sixth round of the year, the overall score heavily favored Bonelli.
Próspero put together a solid run by qualifying 13th, taking fifth in his heat, and crossing the line 24th in the final. For Canapino, things went entirely the other way. The driver known as the Titán struggled to 35th in qualifying before a mechanical failure sidelined him completely during his heat, leaving him out of the final entirely. Nicolás was not part of the Turismo Carretera grid back then.
Now, the stakes are rising again with a championship definition underway. Canapino constantly pushes for more and is making a serious bet on the outcome. Meanwhile, this partnership serves as a massive showcase for Bonelli, acting as a true shop window to put his work on display.
Behind the scenes, the engine that will power Canapino's Chevrolet is already undergoing intense work right now inside the workshop located in Concepción del Uruguay, which serves as the base for the Bonelli family. It is worth noting that Canapino personally visited the shop just last Friday to inspect the progress on the beast.
