Turismo Carretera driver Facundo Ardusso recently stepped away from the usual pre-race pressures to take part in a road safety workshop held ahead of the Turismo Carretera event in Rosario. It marked the second time the driver from Las Parejas has joined the educational sessions organized by the ACTC educational area.
“Second time that I get to come to ACTC Educación and the truth is, it’s always very nice. On this occasion, the school is excellent, and the kids gave me a souvenir, which I’m taking back with me, from the students of this institution,” Ardusso shared.
I always point out that the track is much safer than the street. So, the more we take care of ourselves precisely on the street, the safer it will be. Road safety is made by all of us,
The session involved a hands-on look at what professional racing actually requires, contrasting the controlled environment of a circuit with everyday traffic. Ardusso walked the students through his safety gear, displaying his seat, the leg guard, the pedal box, and his full racing apparel.
“The kids were very attentive, I also felt a lot of respect when it came to asking questions. We did a comparative part, regarding the street and the track. In my case, showing them the seat, the leg cover, the pedal board and all my clothing in terms of safety,” he continued.
Addressing the broader message of the program, the driver emphasized the importance of changing perceptions around speed and responsibility. These ACTC cycles have run for several years now, targeting adolescents who might hold misconceptions about professional drivers.
“It is better to prevent than to cure. And what the ACTC has been doing for a few years with these cycles works very well for young people who are in adolescence. They perhaps believe that the one who races in a car goes flat out anywhere, and clearly it is not like that,” Ardusso noted.
He concluded with a clear distinction between the racetrack and public roads, stressing that true safety is a collective responsibility shared by everyone behind the wheel or walking the streets.
“I always point out that the track is much safer than the street. So, the more we take care of ourselves precisely on the street, the safer it will be. Road safety is made by all of us,” the TC driver finished.
