The 2026 Turismo Carretera season kicked off at the El Calafate autodrome with more than 10 rookies stepping into Argentina's most popular racing category. That initial wave of adrenaline and lifelong dreams ran straight into the heavyweight history of the TC. Now, with 13 rounds completed and only two left in the championship, the class of 2026 has a clear picture of who is staying, who paused, and who made it stick.
Nicolás Moscardini grabbed all the early headlines. In his very first step into the TC, the driver from La Plata claimed the top step of the podium. Even though things happened in that race, the platense capitalized immediately to take the win. Complicated moments followed, prompting him to change both his team and his manufacturer as the rounds ticked by. Right now, he sits 36th in the tournament standings.
When you look at pure consistency among the rookies, Marco Dianda stands clear of the rest. The driver from Guatimozin holds 14th place in the general standings and seventh in the Gold Cup, currently sneaking in through the lucky-losers system.
Others are still grinding through their rookie education with just two rounds remaining. Jorge Barrio sits 38th in the table, Lucas Valle is 39th, Rodrigo Lugon is 42nd, Gaspar Chansard is 43rd, and Joaquin Ochoa is 49th. Thomás Ricciard, sitting 59th, also opted to change his structure.
Not everyone could weather the storm this year. Jeremías Olmedo (35th), Marcos Castro (47th), Lucas Carabajal (58th), Juan Manuel Tomasello (62nd), and Tomás Abdala (64th) all stepped away from the TC field while waiting for a future return.
Finally, Bernardo Llaver (63rd) made a very specific cameo. Granted eligibility to race in TC thanks to his work in Turismo Carretera 2000, he appeared strictly for the Alta Gracia competition, knowing beforehand it would be his only start.
