Now, this is a proper silly season twist. According to Speedcafe, top rookie Dennis Hauger has locked in a multi-year deal that will see him take over the #14 entry. It is a massive step for the young Norwegian driver, who previously spent from 2022 to 2024 as part of the Red Bull junior program.
His resume is nothing short of impressive. After claiming the FIA Formula 3 Championship crown in 2021, Hauger stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship (wait, FIA Formula 2 Championship) where he spent three seasons wrapping up at the end of 2024. Leaving the Red Bull system behind, he headed across the Atlantic in 2025 and immediately conquered the Indy NXT title in his rookie campaign.

Stepping up to IndyCar this year with Dale Coyne Racing, he made an instant impact by grabbing a top 10 finish on his debut at St Petersburg. His career-best result so far is an eighth-place finish at the Indianapolis road course.
Team president Larry Foyt clearly sees a bright future in the 23-year-old driver. “Dennis has accomplished a lot for someone who is only 23,” Foyt stated, pointing out how quickly the young charger adapts and wins whenever he steps up to a new category. Foyt added that watching Hauger secure a rookie title in Indy NXT turned heads, and his progression through his rookie IndyCar season sealed the deal.
Hauger himself is eager for the new challenge. “Larry and I have had some very good conversations about the team and where they want to go,” the driver shared, noting that despite learning a lot in his first two years racing in America, he still has plenty more to achieve in IndyCar.
Of course, this shakeup brings changes for Santino Ferrucci, who has handled driving duties in the #14 car since 2023. Ferrucci has expressed a desire to contest a part-time campaign with Foyt in 2027, which makes complete sense given his stellar record of finishing every race inside the top 10 at the Indianapolis 500 since his debut there in 2019. Meanwhile, questions still linger regarding Hauger’s teammate, as Josh Pierson must first clear the series’ licensing evaluation process before getting the green light.
