Max Verstappen secured an ultimately comfortable victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, and let me tell you, it was a result built nearly ten days before the lights went out. The foundation for this win wasn't laid by a pole position on Saturday. Instead, it was arranged when Red Bull Racing rolled out an upgraded RB22 in Baku.
That package in Baku was described by the team as their final major upgrade of the year. It was a comprehensive overhaul of the machine, featuring a new floor body and diffuser, new sidepods, new cooling louvres, new mirrors, and a new halo fairing.
Now, qualifying at that venue was certainly a disappointing affair. Engine troubles and yellow flags played a significant role in forcing Verstappen to start from an underwhelming eighth on the grid. But those growing pains ultimately unlocked the pace needed for this latest success.
