Here is the thing about Mugello qualifying: absolute madness can happen in the blink of an eye. David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) mastered the chaos to take pole position for the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy, setting a brilliant 1'54.862 that left the rest of the field chasing shadows. (Yes, that machine was hooked up.)
Hakim Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI) threw everything at it, but the #22 rider's stunning lap kept him ahead by that razor-thin 0.018 margin. Danish is forced to settle for second, though this result just continues his seriously impressive run of recent form. Meanwhile, a late push from Joel Kelso (GRYD – MLav Racing) stole third at the very last moment, meaning the front row locks in a gorgeous Spain-Malaysia-Australia spread.
After the opening runs, Almansa was already leading the pack ahead of Danish and Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo)—the latter having fought his way through Q1. When the entire grid headed back out for one final, desperate charge, the timing screens at the very top stayed locked in place. That tiny gap between pole and second survived the onslaught.
Uriarte couldn't hold onto his early promise, sliding down to P4 as Kelso crossed the line last to snatch that front row spot. That leaves Uriarte heading up Row 2, where he will be joined alongside Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) and another late improver, Joel Esteban (LEVEL UP – MTA).
Row 3 brings together David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP), Marco Morelli (CFMoto Valresa Aspar Team), and Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), while Friday’s fastest man Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power) rounds out the top ten. Further down the order, there is a proper mountain to climb for championship leader Max Quiles (CFMoto Valresa Aspar Team). The #28 finds himself way back in P15 and will need an absolute stormer to fight his way up through the pack on Sunday.
