Here is the news for the upcoming junior single-seater campaigns, as the FIA Formula 2 Championship and FIA Formula 3 Championship have officially unveiled their respective calendars for the 2027 season.
Both championships will continue to support Formula 1 across the year, with Formula 2 set to contest 14 rounds while Formula 3 will line up for 10 rounds. The 2027 schedules bring exciting new stops and returns, with Formula 2 returning to Montreal after its first appearance there in 2026, alongside brand new visits to Mexico City and Istanbul, marking the latter's first time on the FIA Formula 2 schedule. Meanwhile, Formula 3 is heading to Jeddah and Montreal for the very first time, with its season finale taking place at Istanbul.
Looking at how the season flows, both championships kick off in March in Bahrain and Jeddah, before traveling to Melbourne in April and Montreal in May. Action resumes in June around Monaco, followed immediately by back-to-back weekends at Silverstone and Spielberg. After the summer break, the racing picks back up at Monza and then moves on to Madrid.
The final stretches of the year diverge slightly between the two categories. Formula 2 heads to Azerbaijan alone in September, before both championships arrive in Istanbul for what serves as the season-ending round for Formula 3. Formula 2 then travels to Mexico at the end of October, before finishing off the year with its final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Speaking on the announcement, Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, emphasized the importance of the pathway, noting that the 14-round calendar provides an exciting platform at iconic venues while helping develop the next generation of stars. He also thanked the FIA President, Bruno Michel, and all the promoters, partners, officials, marshals, and volunteers.
Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO, highlighted the financial sustainability of adding three new venues—mentioning the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 alongside the debuts of Istanbul and Mexico City. Michel pointed out that freight costs will be covered so that the expansion across four continents does not financially impact the teams.
