Here is the news we have been waiting for: Ford Racing has officially locked in November 26 as the date it will show the world its brand-new LMDh prototype wearing its final livery, as Motorsport.com Italia reports.
That stunning hybrid machine, which will contest the FIA World Endurance Championship starting in 2027, broke cover for a promotional shoot during testing at Silverstone. The chassis is built by Oreca, and the test session featured official drivers Nick Yelloly, Logan Sargeant, and Tom Blomqvist putting in the work. While the car ran in a white-and-blue camouflage wrap for the cameras, the actual name of the beast will be revealed just ahead of the big debut.
To announce the date, Ford put together a video blending past glory and future ambition. On the English circuit, the brand brought out not only the new LMDh prototype, but also the legendary machines from the historic 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the GT40s locked out the entire podium in a famous formation finish at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Footage of the historic cars rolled right alongside the modern machine. We saw the race-winning black-and-silver number 2 car driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, the light blue and red-accented number 1 machine of Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, and the gold and red number 3 entry of Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson. Those historic cars were joined and swept past by the 2027 prototype before the video flashed a simple message: "A new era begins."
Now, we just wait for the end of next month to see the final colors on a machine built to write a fresh chapter for the Blue Oval.
