Motorsport.com reports on a deeply moving moment at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where 11-year-old Brexton Busch took the wheel of the Lucas Oil No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet that his father, Kyle Busch, once drove to victory. Following the Celebration of Life for Kyle Busch, the venue gathered to remember a legendary career.
The special ceremony featured speeches from Joe Gibbs, Austin Dillon, and Samantha Busch, alongside Q&As with Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson, Daniel Suarez, Noah Gragson, and Christopher Bell. When the hour of remembrance concluded and Samantha Busch finished a ten-minute speech while fighting back tears, she announced the special victory lap.
Moments later, Brexton climbed into the full-sized NASCAR Cup Series machine—specifically the car Kyle drove to his first win with Richard Childress Racing in 2023. At just 11 years old, he navigated down the frontstretch and treated the fans to a series of roaring burnouts.
His four-year-old sister Lennix then handed him the checkered flag. Brexton climbed atop the car, saluting the crowd with his father's signature bow as a synchronized drone show lit up the night sky in honor of Kyle.

Prior preparations at the RCR shop a few weeks earlier saw Brexton sitting inside a Cup car and getting fitted for the exhibition. Kyle Busch accumulated 234 victories across all three national divisions, surpassing any other driver in history, before passing away suddenly at the age of 41 on May 21st, just days after his final win in a NASCAR Truck Series race at Dover.
While tributes have followed the series everywhere since his unexpected passing, this evening at Charlotte stands as a uniquely powerful homage to a giant of the sport.
