That said, NASCAR's largest oval is waiting. We are down to the final three races of the Chase, and Sunday's race at Talladega Superspeedway brings massive stakes where championship hopes can vanish in an instant. Five of the last six winners at this 2.66-mile behemoth are currently locked into the 16-driver Chase presented by Mobil 1.
Keep an eye on the manufacturer rotation, because the pattern over the last seven races is wild: Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota, and finally Chevrolet. With the superspeedway strength of Team Penske and RFK Racing, can Ford keep the streak alive this weekend?
Kyle Larson heads to the track holding a razor-thin five-point advantage over Christopher Bell. Seven drivers are sitting within 56 points of each other, meaning a colossal swing is coming. Both the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports driver and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing driver are hunting for their very first Talladega wins. Meanwhile, Chase Briscoe, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, and Tyler Reddick already know what it takes to win at the Alabama venue across 188 laps.
Speaking of Reddick, the No. 45 23XI Racing driver is marching in with his championship hopes very much alive after grabbing his sixth win of 2026. He already conquered the spring race at Talladega in 2024 and has been an absolute animal on superspeedways this year, taking wins at the Daytona 500 and EchoPark Speedway while never finishing worse than 14th across five superspeedway races. He leads all Cup drivers with 233 points at such tracks this season. With teammate Bubba Wallace sitting more than 100 points back in the title battle, Reddick might just get the exact push he needs.

Then there is Carson Hocevar. The No. 77 Spire Motorsports driver faces an uphill battle with rivals unlikely to work with the fiery young phenom. Even after crashing twice at Daytona, he has racked up the second-most superspeedway points this season with 169. Powered by his memorable Talladega win and top-five finishes in both EchoPark events, he knows how to slice through the pack. An updated rules package this weekend could play right into his hands.
Finally, Ryan Preece enters the weekend playing with house money. As the driver sitting last in points among the Chase field, expect the RFK Racing trio of Preece, Chris Buescher, and Brad Keselowski to act aggressively as spoilers. Preece pulled off the ultimate walk-off in the 2026 regular-season finale at Daytona, wiping out a 31-point deficit to claim his first career Cup checkered flag and punch his Chase ticket. He is tied with Ryan Blaney for third in most superspeedway points this year with 163. While the Chase has been tough on the No. 60 team, Sunday could easily deliver another massive upset.
