Kimi Antonelli was simply untouchable in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix, putting his machine right at the front to seal pole position for the seventh time this season. The Italian laid down a stunning opening lap of 1m 34.035s in Q3 that completely broke the field, leaving everyone else scrambling for improvements that never materialized in the dying minutes at the Circuit of The Americas.
Max Verstappen pushed hard but ultimately fell nearly two-tenths off the pace to take P2 for Red Bull, going marginally quicker than teammate Isack Hadjar and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton had to settle for fifth place, while Mercedes driver George Russell endured a frustrating session down in P6. McLaren's Oscar Piastri moved up to seventh after teammate Lando Norris suffered a deleted lap time for track limits, which dropped the Briton back to P8.
Arvid Lindblad and Liam Lawson rounded out the top 10 for Racing Bulls, though Lindblad faces a five-place grid penalty for exceeding his permitted internal combustion engine allocation. Pierre Gasly narrowly missed a spot in the top 10 by a razor-thin 0.022s in 11th, qualifying ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto after Audi's tow strategy failed to pay off. Franco Colapinto followed in 14th for Alpine, but he is slated to drop 10 places for taking a new control electronics unit, which promotes Fernando Alonso and Ollie Bearman into the positions they initially finished in.
Esteban Ocon failed to find the pace required to escape Q1 in 17th, leading Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and the Williams pair of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. It marked Sainz's worst qualifying result at this venue since his rookie season, with a frustrated Albon questioning over the radio why Williams sent him out so early. At the back, Cadillac closed out the order with Sergio Perez in P21 and Valtteri Bottas in P22, though both stand to gain a spot once the penalties for Colapinto and Bortoleto are applied.

The afternoon's action was fraught with tension and track limit violations from the very first minute of Q1, where Norris initially showed McLaren's teeth by topping the times ahead of Leclerc and Hamilton. Q2 saw Verstappen flex his muscles with a 1m 34.471s, while Audi's desperate attempt to help Hulkenberg with a tow from Bortoleto ultimately came up short. When the dust settled on the final pole shootout, nobody had an answer for Antonelli.
"We got pole so we’ll try to win tomorrow," said Antonelli. "Max has been very quick, and also Isack did an incredible job in Qualifying. It’s not going to be easy but we’ll try to get a good start and hopefully lead into Turn 1, and then we’ll try to set the pace, even though it’s going to be very tight. I’m very happy with Qualifying today – Q3 was very tough with the wind, very gusty and unpredictable. I’m happy that we stuck it on pole."
