As Motorsport.com reports, current Formula 1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli has openly reflected on the errors he is looking to correct this season while closing in on the title, which led to a lighthearted jab from Max Verstappen.
The Mercedes driver secured victory at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas after starting from pole position, marking his ninth grand prix win of the year. Following his triumph in Austin, he now needs just a top-nine finish at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix to seal the championship.
Reflecting on his campaign during the post-race press conference, Antonelli admitted that there is still room for growth despite his strong form. He noted that he wants to evaluate how he manages certain scenarios and his mindset in specific situations once the year concludes, pointing to a very consistent season overall.

When asked to specify those instances, the Italian driver highlighted several moments. He pointed to his mistake during practice in Australia, a poor start execution in Japan, and losing points due to track limits during the sprint race in Miami, emphasizing that track limits have been his biggest hurdle.
Four-time champion Verstappen, who is now mathematically eliminated from the championship battle, couldn't resist a playful poke regarding Antonelli's track limits issue. "You had only one [today]," Verstappen joked, prompting Antonelli to reply, "Yeah, only one! It was good today. But definitely, in these kinds of situations, and also in some of the qualifying sessions, I just didn't go in with the right mindset. So, yeah, just making sure I improve those."
