Here is some genuinely brilliant news for the future of the grid. Ferrari have officially announced that Alba Larsen is locked in to return for a third campaign in F1 ACADEMY next season, making history as the very first driver to ever contest three seasons in the all-female series. She will continue her journey as part of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, keeping the Dane right where she belongs in red.
This stunning milestone has been made possible by a rule change announced last year. That provision is available exclusively to drivers whose performance on track indicates strong potential for continued growth, and Larsen has certainly earned that faith. The 17-year-old was originally signed by the SFDA midway through her debut F1 ACADEMY season in 2025, where she fought hard to achieve 10 top-10 finishes in the Tommy Hilfiger car.
I’ve grown a lot here too. I’m really proud to be part of it and can’t wait to be back on the grid with Scuderia Ferrari HP in 2027.
She then made the switch to the Ferrari car this year, and the machine has truly come alive under her. She recently claimed her first podium in the series, securing brilliant back-to-back P2 finishes in Zandvoort. To top off a wild stretch of racing, she also managed to score her first win in British F4 earlier this season.
Looking at the current standings, the young Dane sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with just two rounds remaining in Austin and Las Vegas. That is serious momentum heading into the winter break.
Reflecting on the announcement, Larsen shared her excitement for what lies ahead. "After two years in F1 ACADEMY, I’ve seen first-hand how much this series has grown and how important it’s become," she said. She also paid tribute to the environment around her, adding: "Susie and the team keep pushing it forward, the fans bring so much energy, and I’ve had an incredible team around me.
